Still

"When, when, Peace, will you, Peace?" (Hopkins, G.M) There is so much noise and clamor, of wars and rumors of wars, nation rising against nation, of famines, earthquakes, tornadoes and floods. Yet, could these be only birth pains? Should we not be alarmed, because such things have to happen, but the end is still to come? Isn't the night fast approaching? How can we just stand still and know?  Know what, know who, know why and why know at all?

Know the one who knows. Know the one who comes walking on the troubled waters in the middle of the night.  Know, because this friend who opens the door at the midnight hour, says, be still and know. Know because, knowing is tasting, seeing and believing once and forever that He is good.

The wind and the waves know Him and obey His command to be quiet. He can do all things and His purposes can not be thwarted? Birds and flowers know that the omniscient Knower knows and has the capacity to care, so they do not sow nor reap, labor or spin. He has a count of the strands of hair on our head. He knows our sitting down and rising up, our thoughts from afar off, which knowledge is too wonderful

It becomes possible to be still only if we know Him well and trust that He knows and cares. He does not let any weapon formed against us to prosper. He laughs at the nations. He makes wars cease to the end of the earth and breaks the bow and cuts the spear apart. The master butcher you have seen is never to be seen anymore. We need only to stand still and see the salvation, wrought with a cloud during the day and fire at night. Let’s boldly say to ourselves, peace, be still. Whom shall we fear or be afraid of, while He is our Light and eternal Salvation. Can men touch our souls? The one who can destroy both soul and body in hell is coming soon on the clouds with power and glory. Let's fear Him. Maranatha!
